Da Gambit...

Jeffery is unhappy with Da Gambit this morning, for an incredibly stupid series of questions posed to readers of one of their blogs. He's right of course, these people must have been lobotomized when they took up temporary residence in Metairie after the storm. Reading those questions, all I could think of was how low alternatives to Da Paper have sunk. Once upon a time, there was the Vieux Carre' Courier, then there was Figaro, then came (and stayed) Gambit. Gone are the days of cool Bunny Matthews cartoons and the insights of thoughtful writers. You certainly won't find the successor to Ronnie Virgets in the pages of Gambit. But then, we really don't need a return of Figaro. That's what the local bloggers are, the alternative press of the new century.
