"The Final Countdown"

This had to be one of the cheesiest tunes to come out of the 80s. It didn't help much at all when stereo discount outlets used to use the tune as part of their jingles for mega-sales and such. At a point in my life when I figured I was well and truly rid of the tune, my kid becomes a band geek. The Brother Martin High School band does "Final Countdown" at the 2 minute warning at football games, which is OK because they don't sing the cheesey lyrics. It's no surprise that some of my friends who were BMHS band kids when they were in high school have shared this vid:

These guys are very hot. The cello is a truly awesome instrument.
