Expansion of Domestic Drilling NOT Necessary

If we want the price of crude oil to go down, we need to do two things:

First, we need to end the war and get Iraqi production back on track.

Second, we need to stop this shit:

We're playing footsie with the people who are not only responsible for breeding the 9/11 terrorists, but also are now picking our pockets. Want to get the price of oil down? Make the Saudis increase their production. That will push prices down immediately.

We need to make it worth their while to do so. How to do that? Cut off their visas to the US. No more playing in NYC, L.A., etc. No more sending their kids to American universities. Hit the House of Saud where it will actually impact their lifestyle, they'll come around.

The trick is, the Bush Crime Family has been in bed with the Saudis for two generations. (Prescott was in bed with the Nazis before that, of course).

I wish there were one quick solution and we could all snap our fingers and could solve it tomorrow.

What I know (and I can say it without pointing fingers and being nasty), is I don't think the US needs to depend on others and if we've got it - why not take it!

If it means showing the Saudis we don't need them - then so be it. BTW - Bush's picture could be replaced with any President we will have (IMHO) from either political party.

I won't pretend I can hold a serious debate on foreign oil policy - I just look at thing in my own simple way.

If it doesn't jive with your philosophy - agree to disagree.

kissmygumbo - this isn't about "agree to disagree" you posted an appeal to sign a petition that is based on lies. Expect to be called out when you do that.

I believe all political discussions should be agree to disagree - that is where you & I differ. You think something is lies and I may think what you believe is lies. When people care to discuss issues with me, I am very receptive to others opinions and open - I may even change my mind. However, when the discussion is based on name-calling and hatred - I immediately shut down and can no longer partake.

Both sides are guilty of those styles- esp on blogs.

I was reading and taking in your ideas until I saw this "The trick is, the Bush Crime Family has been in bed with the Saudis for two generations. (Prescott was in bed with the Nazis before that, of course)."

I think you get my point. But I will not change you & you will not change me with that style. I think we can agree on that my friend!

I appreciate you passion in politics.

I don't actually believe that the Saudi's have the spare capacity we need right now, London's Financial times recently revealed that they have been using almost twice as much seawater injection technology as they had admitted to. The only time thats needed if fields are reaching the midpoint of their lifespan and you need to force more oil closer to the surface.

Also, - playing devil's advocate here - its really not in the Saudi's best interest to pump based on OUR needs as opposed to the needs of its own citizens.

"Marri will seek to persuade council members that the oil production must be linked to the country's actual development needs not the needs of foreign consumers," Alriyadh newspaper said in a report from the capital Riyadh. "He will tell the Council that keeping sufficient oil quantities underground is a good investment for the future as oil prices will then be higher…he will argue that this will be better than producing more oil and generating financial surpluses on the grounds these surpluses are causing inflation."

"The level of oil production in Saudi Arabia must be linked to the country's actual development and financial needs not to market prices and the need of foreign consumer (My emphasis. - Techfun). It is not wise to sap this resource just to satisfy the demand of foreign markets."

--- Crude Oil Prices vs the Power of Personality

If the US economy was enormously based on one single commodity would we want our government to sell it at a rate that satisfied our financial needs or at a rate that would satisfy our customers in China or South Africa or France?
