Harry Lee...
Harry Lee has made so many racist remarks in his tenure as Sheriff of Jefferson Parish that it's difficult to even get worked up by his latest, much less develop a sense of outrage. The people of Jefferson Parish want a racist as their top law enforcement officer, and that's what we've got.
Lee's latest stupid statement came within the context of his ongoing feud with Rev. Tom Watson of New Orleans. Watson blipped on the media radar earlier this month after a May 31 incident in which JPSO deputies killed a 16 year old suspect who was trying to run them down with a stolen truck. Since then, both men have engaged in a mine-is-bigger-than-yours sort of confrontation in the media. On Monday, as he usually does when Lee is swinging his manhood, he let his mouth continue before his brain caught up:
"Blacks don't turn in blacks," Lee said. "There's something in their culture that they don't turn in a brother."
When one is standing on the high ground, it's amazing to watch that person jump down on their own. Still, it's not going to matter, since Harry is just what Jefferson Parish wants.
