OPSB: Moving forward on finances

I've got a serious problem with politicians who try to pull end-runs around democracy, and Torin Sanders' small gains in the revised contract to outsource the financial management of OPSB really don't justify his grandstanding. About all Sanders gained over the original agreement, which was passed two weeks ago amidst some of the worst examples of racist behavior in the history of the OPSB, by a 4-3 margin.

Still, at least now the process goes forward. A revised agreement, passed last week by a 6-1 margin, with Cynthia Cade dissenting:

The only opposing vote Thursday came from Cynthia Cade, who said in an interview that she resented the board not being able to choose the company it wanted.

"We could have done a whole lot better," she said.

Other board members disagreed.

I disagree with Ms. Cade as well. She and the rest of the "new" board have had over six months to come up with at least a plan for financial management. She's got nothing but disagreement and belief she can do better. The time for put-up-or-shut-up has long past. Ms. Cade didn't put up, so it's time to shut up. Better still, she and Mr. Sanders should simply resign from the board and allow someone else from the community who actually has a clue to join in the process.
