Drafting a CouncilCritter...
UPDATE: Below
There's a lot of buzz in the blogosphere and in the community associations today about the dearth of decent candidates qualifying for the New Orleans at-large seat recently vacated by Oliver Thomas (D-Leavenworth).
As of now, the candidates in the race are:
* Quentin Brown (D-Obnoxious), a "lawn care specialist"
* Jackie Clarkson (R-Disneyland's New Orleans Square), who never met a developer she didn't like.
* Cythia Willard-Lewis (D) - CouncilCritter for District "D"
* Gail Masters Reimonenq (D-Markey Marc), a cousin of Stan "Pampy" Barre, Markey-Marc confidant, purveyor of bad airport food, and soon-to-be trading for cigarettes with Oliver Thomas (Pampy ratted Oliver out to the feds for a lesser sentence).
* Diana Bajoie - (D-Houston), the term-limited state senator from Central City, whose constituency is still in Texas.
* Dyan French - (D-Moon), "Mama D," long-time activist and race-baiter.
This field is enough to make anyone lose their appetite. It's got something to nauseate everyone.
So, naturally the community activists are unhappy and now want to draft someone more to their liking.
The time for that, folks, was in the first half-hour after Da Paper announced that Oliver was quitting so he could re-locate to his new federally-subsidized apartment. These good folks above did just that.
Live and learn. If you want to play with the heavy-hitters, you need to get a heavy bat and swing it early.
UPDATE: I made a serious error, attributing the antics of Councilwoman Cynthia Hedge-Morrel to Councilwoman Cynthia Willard-Lewis. I've corrected this and I apologize.
