...because he's testing Movable Type 4.0 templates...
if you see things changing a bit here, don't panic--I'm working on the layout for the site. Comments and suggestions are, of course, appreciated.
in case anyone's been wondering what happened to all my YatPundit projects, I've been extremely busy of late. I was contacted by a training provider who contracts with EMC Corporation about doing some training for them. I did a bit of work for EMC up until about 2003, when a lot of my travel-training gigs dried up in the face of the Bush recession. A combination of circumstances has improved the training picture, so I've got the opportunity to do a bit more of this work.
Well, when you've been out of practice on a subject for a couple of years, it takes a bit of time to get the act back together, and that's what I've been doing for the last few weeks. Last week, I was in Dallas, this week, McLean, VA, and the week after next, I'll be in Milford, MA, doing EMC training work. Now that I've ramped up on the course material once again, I can resume my various on-line projects.
I know y'all understand when work and career intrude upon blogging and podcasting, and I appreciate your support.
...if you're wondering where all the stuff went to. Stuff since the storm will be back shortly.
YatPundit is back up and running! I've got tales to tell, and we'll get to all of them in due course. I've made some changes to the structure of the blog and the podcasts. YatPundit will now be cross-posted to the LiveJournal user yatpundit, because of several requests I received to separate my political commentary from the personal stuff I write. So this blog will go directly to yatpundit, and any New Orleans stuff that fits both LJ accounts will be cross-posted to mysticknyght, my primary LJ account.
Other than that, we're cleaning and working and generally surviving. I'm about to post a clean-up update, then we'll go forth from there.
...Taking the teen to see the Georgia Institute of Technology. My bet is that he thinks MIT is better but the weather in Atlanta more pleasant. I'll update when we arrive later today.
wow, the last couple of days have seen an enormous amount of comment-spam attacks on my blogs. We're talking over 500 comments/hour. At first I thought there was a problem with MySQL when I brought the server up after the tropical storm power outage, because the system was so disk-bound. To see if it was an outside attack, I turned off the web server and the change was dramatic, silence where I could hear the drives slamming.
I've implemented some more comment-spam countermeasures, hopefully that will keep these bastards off for a while...
I changed the plugin used here for cross-posting between YatPundit and my LiveJournal. It's been difficult to test, however, because my server has received a sustained comment-spam assault. MT-Blacklist is handling it, but it's really slowing the server down. We lost power for three hours also, as a result of the storm.
