Five Questions - What Perry, Murray, Georges and Jacobs have to say

1. How will you raise revenue for city government?
- James Perry - has action items on economic development and budget reform, but no specifics on raising revenue.
- Ed Murray - no specifics in his economy section.
- John Georges - good bullet points on economic development, but nothing on revenue.
- Leslie Jacobs - no economic specifics on her website whatsoever.
(the other four after the jump)
2. How will you reduce crime in the city?
Better responses from all three:
- Perry - Action item to bring in new NOPD superintendent and hold that person accountable.
- Murray - More generalities here, but language shows Murray recognizes role of District Attorney as outside of Mayor's direct control.
- Georges - Solid action items here. Also recognizes importance of DA.
- Jacobs - Her "Crime" video clip is a solid action plan (although it should be written down instead of just a YouTube embed).
3. How will you provide affordable housing for low-income citizens?
- Perry - not part of his first five action items, not mentioned. His housing focus is on eliminating blight, not getting people places to live.
- Murray - similar to Perry, discussion of eliminating blight and working with NORA
- Georges - comes at economy from a business perspective with no mention of housing.
- Jacobs - No mention of housing.
4. What is your plan for real public transit?
Nothing from any of these candidates. As someone with a specific interest in public transit, this was well and truly disappointing.
5. What is your plan to "fix" Gentilly and Lakeview?
No specific mention of these neighborhoods from any of these candidates. Cleaning up blight references from Perry, Murray, and Georges are encouraging, as far as that goes. It's more an assurance to property owners with money that their land values won't get screwed. There are still numerous issues surrounding the direct victims of the Federal Flood that need to be addressed, and it's disappointing that they're being left behind. Again.
